Q: What is the typical accuracy of your furniture test systems in terms of force and displacement?
A: Our furniture testing systems achieve the following accuracy specifications under standard laboratory conditions (23 ± 2°C):
- Force measurement: ±0.5% of indicated value for the DR-J503 mattress tester (200 kg imported load cell) and similar across the DR-J501/DR-J601 series. This exceeds the Class 1 accuracy required by ISO 7500-1 for most furniture testing applications. In practical terms: at a 750 N sofa seat load, the actual applied force is within 746.25–753.75 N.
- Displacement measurement: ±1 mm for the DR-J503 (using Panasonic laser displacement sensors with 0.1 mm resolution). For pneumatic/electric linear actuators on the DR-J501 chair/sofa testers, displacement accuracy is typically ±0.5 mm via integrated encoder feedback.
These accuracy levels are sufficient for all major furniture testing standards:
- BIFMA X5.1 requires force application within ±5% of specified values
- EN 1957:2012 mattress testing specifies a vertical force tolerance of ±7 N on a 1400 N load (0.5%)
- EN 12520 domestic seating allows ±5% on applied test forces
Our systems operate well within these tolerances. For laboratories requiring formal accuracy certification, we provide factory calibration certificates traceable to national standards, and can arrange third-party ISO/IEC 17025 calibration upon request.
